The history of TT Rosenau

A local club goes big.

Our origin:
The 1980’s

Objective:
To get together, have fun, compete, and represent the village.

Table tennis has a long history in Rosenau.

Before TT Rosenau as we know it today, there was a small yet notable table tennis club in the village.

Despite their limited membership, they achieved significant success by becoming the Haut-Rhin Division 1 champions in the 1980s.

Unfortunately, following the destruction of their hall in a fire, the club sadly disbanded.

Y2K:
The awakening

Objective:
To unite, share a passion, relaunch, grow, and evolve.

Ping-pong in Rosenau rises from the ashes.

MICHEL Lucien, deputy mayor of Rosenau, has the idea after a meeting with SCHWOEHRER Claude (development officer for the Haut-Rhin) to recreate a table tennis club in Rosenau. On the 30th of March, 1999, Monsieur Michel contacted BECKERT René with the goal to found the club.

On October 9th and 10th, 1999, the Escale village hall was inaugurated. To mark the occasion, WITZ Christian (Saint-Louis) and STROSSER Fabrice (Mulhouse) were invited to give a ping-pong demonstration, and sparked considerable interest amongst the attendees. On the Tuesday (October 12, 1999) following this successful event, the first training sessions of the reestablish table tennis club began in the village hall.

The club is (re)launched!

On January 25, 2000, a meeting was held to register the articles of association and create the association's first committee. The club's first president at the time was BINDER René.

To stimulate interest in the fledgling club, a friendly match was organized in Rosenau between TT Saint-Louis (N2) and ESV Weil (Baden League).

TT Rosenau, 2001-2002 season

As the years went by, the club continued to grow, focusing on training young players from the village and attracting new members, strengthening its ranks.

By the conclusion of the 2002/03 season, this growth and development paid off when the club triumphed as the Division 4 champion, marking its inaugural ascent to an upper division!

Today:

Objective:
To build up, improve, and go higher and further

Commitment and values

From friendly matches and annual youth tournaments, to the regional ranking finals in 2010 to celebrate the club's 10th anniversary, or the Alsace youth internationals in the early 2010s, where today's champions were in Rosenau, the club hosts numerous sporting competitions. Can you find any familiar faces?

The TT Rosenau's involvement in community life is well established. Over the years: Telethon Tournament, Bastille Day, Christmas Market, Foulées de Rosenau, Marche populaire de Rosenau, Rosenau’s flea market... The TT Rosenau brings life to the village.

Thanks to its image, atmosphere, facilities/services and projects, the club has been able to attract new players. The level of play is rising, and the Rosenau club is now one of the top table tennis clubs in the Haut-Rhin and Alsace.

We'd like to thank all our members, past and present, for making the TT Rosenau what it is today.
